Kennedy Middle School Fall Festival

The evening of October 7, 2022 was an extremely enjoyable time for both volunteers and attendees of Kennedy Middle School’s fall fest. Attendees were drawn to Cupertino Robotics’ booth through multiple engaging visuals and a coordinated team of enthusiastic volunteers who were all wearing red. People were shown a succinct description of Cupertino Robotics, an FTC chassis from the previous year, and plenty of photos of FTC and FRC teams. But the most exciting part was yet to come – chassis driving! This served as a more interactive activity for young children and even adults who were curious about how to drive robots. Volunteers eagerly showed them the controls to maneuver the robot’s wheels and mechanisms, and people were quick to learn. Challenges were set up to drive the robot in a certain way, pick up blocks, and drop them inside cones. Pins were handed out. Encouragements were shouted. Not only was this event plenty of fun for attendees; it also yielded great enjoyment from volunteers! For their hard work, volunteers were rewarded with tickets that gave them access to free food, drinks, games, polaroids, and more.

Adia Gurtu, a volunteer from FTC Team 7610, summarized her enjoyment of the Kennedy Fall Festival:

“This event was extremely well coordinated and fun. I feel as if students were thoroughly enjoying everything, especially the chassis driving. Everyone was having a great time learning about robotics, which made me and the other volunteers really happy.”

Overall, the Kennedy Fall Festival was a once in a lifetime experience for everyone involved, and Cupertino Robotics is looking forward to all future outreach events!
